Artist Residency

TALAMH NUA is a new artist residency at The Art Hand on The Copper Coast in Waterford, Ireland.

Environmentally conscious artists and creatives from near and far will stay and create in the area. Residencies will take place throughout the year, hosting one or occasionally two guests at a time.

Public Events

Local artists and members of the public will be invited by each of the TALAMH NUA residents to a public event during their stay. This might be a presentation of their work, a special film screening, an open day or a community artwork. In some cases the resident artist will ask for an assistant or collaborators throughout their stay.

Night on The Copper Coast

‘TALAMH NUA’ is the Irish for ‘New Ground’. It has grown directly out of our experience with the Talamh Land Art Festival, which we ran here on the Copper Coast for three memorable years. Dozens of amazing land artists from near and far participated in the festival each year along with hundreds of public participants.

We wanted to change the format while keeping its legacy intact. We’re excited to see what the future holds as this vibrant festival evolves into an intimate, year-round residency programme.

The Talamh festival specialised in Land Art but this new residency is open to artists and creatives of all disciplines, at all stages of their career. So whether you’re a filmmaker, a philosopher, a researcher or a curator we want to hear from you. We are interested in people who are:

  • Producing work that has meaningful impact
  • Seeking time for personal or project development
  • Focused on the environment and the natural world
  • Contributing to global peace and community wellbeing
  • Producing work that brings hope, joy, and inspiration
  • Climate champions, changemakers and community artists

Applicants must be over the age of 18 and can be based anywhere in the world but we are particularly encouraging applications from Ireland as we would like to support and grow the environmental and creative community here.
